Align your heart

“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Christ”. Philippians 1:6

My best friend shared a profound statement with me a while back. She said, “We should focus less on outcomes and more on aligning our hearts with God and praying the scriptures.” I thought about this as I was looking through some pictures of myself during the process of recovery and reflected on that difficult season of my life.

As the turmoil of this situation continued to taunt me, I called out to God. During a devotional quiet time while I was praying, I heard God say in my heart, “you need to trust me however the healing comes.” Isn’t that what God is saying all the time, “TRUST ME.” To be honest, It wasn’t the answer I was looking for at that time. I didn’t want to trust, I just wanted to be well. Yet, as I began to align my heart with God, something changed in my soul. I was able to let go and gain perspective.

What if we see life filtered through the loving and present hand of God, instead of getting stuck bitterly while waiting or become broken from life’s trails? It’s hard I know, I struggle too. Yet, I think this is the part where faith gets to stand tall, God’s word comes alive and praying the scriptures changes hearts, and even out outcomes!
