Thankful Thursday

“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:17

The past several years I have been very purposeful to count my blessings and start each day with a positive, hopeful, and thankful heart. This hasn’t always been easy for me because I am no stranger to being tossed around by anxiety, at times leaning on emotions or just too focused on the daily challenges, that being thankful wasn’t my first response. Yet, I have found that if you take some time, you will find so much to “give thanks for”, and this is something I want to instill in my children. Becoming a thankful person is easy and requires less energy than being fretful or ungrateful.

As I’ve shared on another vlog post, my kids and I have turned Thursday into Tranquil Thankful Thursday. It is a day of the week where we can be more aware of what we are thankful for and discover together how we can display our thanksgiving. One of the ways we have done this over the summer was by making floral arrangements for people we care about. Making the arrangements together not only kept our hearts thankful but it also built important quality time, created a heart of giving that I believe everyone will often reflect on. It is so important to think of others, especially in the “selfie” generation children are growing up in these days.

I truly hope today’s little post and vlog encourage your heart and get you thinking about what you are thankful for.

You can share this with a friend, like it, or leave a comment. I always enjoy hearing from you!

  1. I love the variety in each arrangement, and the idea that all of your kids participate! What a neat way to teach them to think about others!
